PEORIA, Ill. – A vacant home caught fire in South Peoria early Monday morning.
Peoria Fire Battalion Chief Larry Carter says crews arrived around 2:20 a.m. to the home on W. Third Street, finding smoke coming from all sides of the home.
The fire was under control in about 15 minutes. No firefighter injuries were reported.
Due to extensive damage, the home was demolished. Damage was estimated at $40,000.
A neighboring home sustained some heat damage, Carter says.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
