A Pekin man has died following a two-vehicle accident near South Pekin.
The victim is identified as Chad Williams, 42. Williams was found entrapped in the passenger seat of his vehicle following the accident at 6:12 a.m. Wednesday at Route 29 and Main Street.
Williams was transported to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 9:37 a.m.
The Peoria County coroner said witnesses reported Williams was driving a Hyundai Accent headed west on Route 29. After stopping a stop sign, Williams reportedly pulled into the path of a pickup truck and was struck on the driver’s side door with both vehicles ending in a ditch.
The driver of the pickup, who has not been identified, suffered minor injuries according to the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office.
Peoria County Coroner Jaime Harwood said Williams suffered blunt force trauma injuries from the impact. Toxicology tests are pending. There will be no autospy.
The accident remains under investigation.
