Another UnityPoint Health Red, White and Boom! is in the books.
Capacity crowds gathered on the Peoria and East Peoria riverfronts to view the largest fireworks display in the state and among the top two percent in the nation.
Mother Nature teased area surrounding the area with some rain late in the afternoon, but a rainbow that could be seen in the east toward the East Peoria side of the river seemed to signal that the show would go on.

“I actually thought it was the best show we’ve had in terms of the choreography and timing in particular,” said Midwest 360 Peoria Market Manager Mike Wild. “But overall, the artistic value of the show was probably, literally, the best show we’ve ever had.”
The fireworks display timed to music is a collaborative effort of several law enforcement agencies and sponsors on both sides of the Illinois River.

“It’s a happy thing to celebrate our nation’s birthday and it’s a great way to do it,” Wild said. “There are so many things for people to do and fireworks is the type of thing that bring people together and it’s just a great night for everybody. We were lucky the weather held off so it just turned out great.”

Wild says the planning will get underway in about three months for the 34th UnityPoint Health Red, White and Boom!
“We do try to improve the show every year and, yes, we think next year will be bigger and better. We always try to make it that way. We have confidence it will continue to grow and the whole event will continue to get bigger and better,” Wild said.
