The victim of a wrong-way crash on I-74 in Peoria has been identified.
Judy McLeese, 64, of Peoria was driving the wrong way on eastbound I-74 near the Gale Ave. exit around 7:45 p.m. Saturday when her vehicle struck a recreational vehicle head on.
McLeese was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Illinois State Police Sgt. Tony Halsey.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said McLeese, who was the lone occupant of her vehicle, was not wearing a seat belt and likely died instantly. It is not known why she was driving the wrong way.
Harwood said toxicology results are pending and there will be no autopsy.
The driver of the RV, James Estep, 45, of Manassas, Virginia, was not injured.
The accident remains under investigation.
