Former Manual High School basketball star Howard Nathan is hospitalized in critical condition at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.
Nathan’s brother, Charles Nathan, confirms Nathan, 47, was transported to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center Tuesday. Tests are still being conducted to determine the reason for his medical setback.
Nathan led the Manual Rams to the state championship game in 1991, the same year he was named Illinois’ “Mr. Basketball.”
Nathan went on to play at DePaul, Northwest Arkansas Community College and Northeast Louisiana, now Louisiana-Monroe. Nathan also played five games with the NBA’s Atlanta Hawks during the 1995-96 season.
Nathan has been paralyzed since a 2006 automobile accident in Peoria.
Charles Nathan says the family is requesting prayers on his brother’s behalf from the community, especially those who know his brother.
