The Peoria Police Department is inviting neighborhoods throughout the city on Tuesday August 6 to join the 36th Annual National Night Out Against Crime (NNO), sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) and co-sponsored locally by the Peoria Police Department.
The national event provides heightened drug and crime prevention awareness, and strengthens the bond between the police department and the community.
The event will also send a message to criminals that Peoria neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
To help offset some of the costs, the Peoria Police Department will once again be offering a $200 reimbursement to registered neighborhood associations who choose to participate in this year’s National Night Out event.
Last year’s event was a success with 35 Peoria neighborhoods participating.
The national event will involve 16,790 communities from all 50 states.
Registration forms for the event are due no later than Friday, July 19.
