(AP) – Suburban Chicago sheriff’s police say a woman fatally shot her two sons and set her house on fire before turning the gun on herself.
The DuPage County sheriff’s office says 43-year-old Jamie Jones shot to death 16-year-old Jason Harris and 19-year-old Nathan Harris in their Elmhurst home late Friday. She then set the house ablaze before shooting herself.
Nathan was a returning sophomore to Bradley, a member of the honors program and a computer science major from Elmhurst, IL.
The sheriff’s office says what was initially a fire investigation has determined the deaths were the result of a murder-suicide. The Elmhurst Fire Department had removed the bodies from the scene before sheriff’s investigators arrived at the scene.
DuPage County Sheriff James Mendrick didn’t indicate what led to the deaths, adding the actions of Jones were “completely inconceivable.”
