An Excessive Heat Warning has been issued for the Peoria area Wednesday afternoon through Saturday night.
25 News Chief Meteorologist Chuck Collins says an Excessive Heat Warning is issued when a prolonged period of hot temperatures will occur.
Collins says high temperatures combined with high humidity will create a situation where heat related illness is possible.
Wednesday, the Peoria area will see high temperatures in the low 90s with heat index values around 100 degrees.
Collins says Thursday through Saturday will be the core of the heat locally, with highs in the mid to upper 90s and heat index values ranging 105-110.
