Peoria Public Schools is accepting resumes and letters of interest from people willing to fill a District 2 School Board vacancy.
Bob Davison-Aviles resigned from the Board Monday saying a new job he accepted at Bradley University will not allow him the time to properly fulfill his duties as School Board member.
Illinois School Code requires PPS to fill the vacancy within 45 days. The successful applicant to be appointed to the Board will serve the remainder of Aviles’ term through June 30, 2021.
Interested applicants should submit a resume and letter of interest to the Board secretary no later than 4 p.m. Aug. 15. They can be submitted via email at daphne.williams@psd150.org or in person at the PPS Administration Office, 3202 N. Wisconsin Ave.
Potential candidates are required to be a U.S. citizen, 18 years of age or older, a registered voter, not a school district trustee or treasurer, not a registered child sex offender and live within Peoria Public Schools boundaries, specifically in District 2, which is the central region of the school district.
The PPS School Board hopes to make an appointment and seat the new District 2 Board member on or before its Aug. 26 meeting.
