Relief from the heat.
With temperatures expected to be in the mid to upper 90s, and an Excessive Heat Warning in effect through Saturday night, Peoria officials say cooling centers available throughout the area, including the lobby of the Peoria Police Station, Peoria City Hall and the Woodford County Courthouse lobby.
The Peoria City/County Health Department advises residents to take precautions during extremely high temperatures. Heat related injuries such as heat exhaustion, heatstroke, and dehydration may develop with or without feelings of discomfort. Young children, particularly infants, and older adults are extremely sensitive to heat and can easily become dehydrated and lose more body fluids than usual.
