A 19-year-old woman is recovering after being shot in Peoria’s South Side.
Peoria Police said a Shotspotter alert came in just after 3 a.m. Friday from the 1700 block of W. Aiken Avenue.
The female victim was taken to a hospital by private vehicle with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
No arrests have been made. The shooting remains under investigation.
Peoria Police Spokesperson Mike Boland says the victim was attending a vigil for the one-year anniversary of Luis Cruz’s death.
Police shot and killed Cruz following a traffic stop overnight on July 19, 2018. Cruz was wanted for questioning in a shooting the previous month.
Cruz’s family has filed a federal law suit against the City of Peoria.
