Monmouth first responders responded to 516 W. 2nd Avenue in Monmouth, Illinois when Brian Sage set fire to the residence and barricaded himself inside. Monmouth Police officers were able to get Sage out of the burning house.
Sage was then transported to OSF Holy Family Medical Center for evaluation.
The fire did not spread to other structures and the residence remains intact after Monmouth, Cameron, and Kirkwood Fire Departments were able to control the fire that was started at the residence.
The incident is under investigation.
