Midstate College is closing its doors.
President and CEO Meredith Bunch, in an email to students Monday, said the college will close at the end of the summer semester Aug. 14.
Bunch told students that officials will work with them to provide transfer options.
“We have treasured you as students and enjoyed work with you on your education program,” Bunch said in the email. “I hope you carry with you fond memories of your time with Midstate College.”
Midstate College officials have not been available for comment.
Midstate College started as a commercial school in Peoria in 1857, later changing its name to Brown’s Business College of Commerce. The stock was purchased by the Bunch family in 1965 and the name was changed to Midstate College 1970.
Midstate College moved from downtown Peoria to its current location at 411 W. Northmoor Road in 1997.
