After a rainy start to the year that caused flooding along the Illinois and Mississippi rivers, we are now begging for some of the wet stuff.
According to News Partner 25 News Chief Meteorologist Chuck Collins, 2019 was the 5th wettest spring in central Illinois, and now in the first week of August, we could be facing a slight drought situation.
After a late spring planting season, Farmers say the crops are now stressed due to the extreme dryness.
Collins says, to date, Peoria has had 23 days with no rain, after having 8 days of rainfall; and in July received only half of the total normal rainfall amount.
Collins says the next chance of rain will not come until the middle of next week.
