OSF HealthCare says several of its hospitals have received reports of patients or caregivers receiving calls from what appears to be an OSF HealthCare caller ID.
The callers ask for bank account and personal information or insurance information.
OSF says if you receive one of these calls, hang up. And, if you are concerned the call may be legitimate, call the OSF location back using the main switchboard number at that facility. Ask the operator to connect you to a specific department, do not call the number provided during the original call.
You are also encouraged to report the call to local police.
