Monday afternoon around 4:00 p.m., the Peoria Fire Department received a report of a structure fire.
Battalion Fire Chief Michael Hughes said when they arrived they saw heavy smoke coming from bottom windows of an apartment.
Crews had reports of victims inside, but crews did not find anyone inside.
“Initial search was negative,” Hughes said.
An aggressive interior attack put out the fire within minutes of the first engine arrival.
“One person was injured from punching the window out. He was treated and released,” Hughes said.
