Police Chief Brian Fengel is retiring after serving the Village of Bartonville for 29 years.
Announced Friday, Fengel has been appointed as director/coordinator for the Central Illinois Police Training Center – MTU 7 in Peoria, replacing the retiring director Michael Oyer.
Fengel has served as Bartonville’s police chief since 1998, working with four mayors during his time with the Village.
During 33 years in law enforcement, Fengel has been involved with the Silver Search Task Force, Amber Alert Task Force, Elder Abuse Task Force and was on the EPA Committee with the International Chiefs Association.
Fengel was also appointed by Secretary of State Jesse White to the Motor Vehicle Theft Prevention and Insurance Verification Council of Illinois. He also applied and received over $1 million in grants for the Bartonville Police Department including the First Community Policing Grant.
