Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood has released the autopsy results of Peoria’s most recent homicide victims.
The city’s 16th homicide victim, 63-year-old Theresa Simmons passed away at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center on Saturday Aug. 17 at 4:54 p.m., where she was hospitalized five days earlier.
Simmons had suffered significant head trauma the morning of Monday Aug. 12 in her home on the 700 block of W. Louchs Ave.
Harwood said she had suffered inflicted, blunt force trauma to her head, causing fractures and detrimental bleeding in her brain.
Her death is currently being investigated by the Peoria Police Department as a homicide.
The 17th homicide victim of the year, 38-year-old Marshawn Tolliver passed away at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center on Monday Aug. 19. He had been hospitalized there since Tuesday Aug. 6.
Tolliver was transported to OSF after he suffered apparent gunshot wounds in the 2900 block of N. Peoria Ave.
Harwood said that Tolliver had suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his anterior and posterior upper body, and one of his upper extremities and one of his lower extremities.
There was no evidence of close-range fire and no defensive wounds.
The case remains under investigation by the Peoria Police Department.
