A Peoria Heights woman was arrested after hitting a police officer in Woodford County, and leading police on a slow speed chase.
Brittney Pickett, 34, is being held at the Woodford County Jail and accused of aggravated battery, fleeing, and eluding a police officer, and driving on a suspended license.
Deer Creek-Goodfield Police were dispatched to a rest area on I-74 between Eureka and Carklock around 10 p.m. Wednesday, after someone called 911 and hung up.
A Woodford County Sheriff’s Office deputy joined the Deer Creek-Goodfield officer at the scene.
Upon arrival, they found a grey Lexus alone at the rest stop. While trying to communicate with Pickett, she did not acknowledge the officers.
In the process of driving away, Pickett’s car struck the Deer Creek-Goodfield officer, who mostly got out of the way.
Pickett then headed eastbound I-74, leading police on a slow speed chase that did not go over 50 mph.
The Deer Creek-Goodfield officer was able to place his car in front of Pickett’s to slow her down and force her to stop outside of Morton.
The officer was treated at a hospital in Eureka, and released for minor injuries.
Pickett is expected in Woodford County Circuit Court Thursday.
