(25 News)–A terminally ill woman who was raising money for her own funeral has died. A close family friend told 25 News Chalise Scholl passed away Wednesday evening. She was 37-years-old.
Scholl was diagnosed with stage three cervical cancer last December and went through aggressive chemo and radiation treatments.
Scholl spent her life savings on her mother’s funeral last year, who also died from cervical cancer.
Scholl blew past her fundraising goal by several thousand dollars in July. She decided to use that money to help others.
Last month, Scholl said “Right now I’m helping somebody who doesn’t have cancer but her daughter died last month and left behind a 6-year old little boy and I’m trying to to bless the little boy..”
Scholl said she was eternally grateful for everyone’s support, and said she wanted others to know they helped her leave an impact on the world.
This summer, she said, “Just to be here around family, friends, everybody that’s been reaching out to me, supporting me. I wanted to meet people I haven’t met that have reached out to me because I don’t know whats going to happen,” said Scholl.
