A Peoria man drowned at Lake of the Ozarks over the weekend.
The Missouri State Patrol says the body of 23-year-old Sean Burgess, of Peoria, was recovered from Lake of the Ozarks Saturday night after he apparently jumped into the lake during a boat race.
Burgess was apparently watching the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout boat race when he jumped off a flotation mat Saturday afternoon and did not resurface.
At least two dive teams searched the lake for Burgess. The Missouri Highway Patrol dive team found his body in about 37 feet of water.
The remainder of the boat races were canceled Saturday.
