A Canton facility is one of five sites to be approved for a “same-site” cannabis license in Illinois.
Salveo Health & Wellness Dispensary, located at 3104 N. Main Street in Canton, is the only Central Illinois site to receive the license that goes into effect January 1st, 2020, when recreational marijuana becomes legal statewide.
Other approved sites include: The Clinic in Mundelein, 3C Compassionate Care Center in Joliet, 3C Compassionate Care Center in Naperville and The Clinic in Effingham.
Illinois residents will be able to legally possess up to 30 grams of cannabis flower and five grams of cannabis concentrate. Patients in Illinois’ medical marijuana pilot program can have more than 30 grams if it is grown and secured in their home, meeting state criteria.
A new state law allows existing medical marijuana dispensaries to open a second site for adult use sales at a separate location.
The Illinois Department of of Financial and Professional Regulation anticipates receiving additional applications for early approval adult use licenses as municipalities adopt relevant zoning ordinances regarding adult use cannabis.
