Peoria’s Tireless Project is back.
The monthly collection of unwanted tires for Peoria residents will resume at JIMAX, located at 2000 W. Clark Street in Peoria.
Hours of collection are planned for 8-10 a.m., but once the trailer reaches capacity of 1,000 tires, they will shut down.
The collection is open Peoria residents only. Customers must have proof of residency in the form of a driver’s license, state ID, or property tax statement.
The Tireless Project’s organizers say they will take 20 tires per person, with the first 10 being free, then there will be a $1.00 charge per tire after that, cash only.
Tires must be regular tires, not oversized. No tire rims will be accepted.
If tires left after the designated hours, a $200 fine for littering will be enforced.
Future dates for 2019 are Sept 28, and Oct. 26th.
The Tireless Project, initiated in 2015 by Peoria volunteers, successfully collected approximately 3,800 tires in their inaugural year.
In July 2017, JIMAX volunteered to take over the collection.
