The City of East Peoria moved forward with plans to take advantage of legalized recreational marijuana.
The East Peoria city council passed the special cannabis tax Tuesday night of a 4-1 vote.
The ordinance states, the city will impose a 3-percent tax on the sale of recreational pot.
The ordinance also states, the city will receive a 1-percent share of State sales tax. Also, 1.75-percent Non-Home Rule sales tax less the State’s fee of 1.5-percent.
