The Peoria CityLink Transit Center downtown will begin the first phase of remodeling beginning Monday Sept. 9.
The Transit Center, located at 407 SW. Adams, will see three phases to complete the project.
The first phase will be to remodel the Customer Service area, while phase two will be to Security/public restrooms. The public will not have access to those parts of the building while they are being remodeled.
During phase one, CityLink Customer Service will be temporarily relocated to the security office.
Phase three includes the 2nd floor with the Benefit Access office and Burlington Trallways Customer service.
All three phases of the project are expected to be completed by Jan. 2020.
In a release, CityLink announced that Peoria Metro Construction is the general contractor for the project. The total cost will be $501,400 with 80 percent federally funded, and 20 percent locally funded.
