At approximately 12:20 p.m. Sunday, Peoria Police responded to the area of Starr and Griswold on reports of a fight in the street.
In the 2400 block of Starr Street, officers found a female victim unresponsive and not breathing, with a gunshot wound to the head.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood has identified the victim as 24-year-old Jaylin Williams, of Peoria. She was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 12:46 p.m.
The PPD identified and arrested two suspects.
25-year-old Denise Williams was charged with first degree murder.
30-year-old Montaye Phifer was taken into custody on a charge of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon.
Williams and Phifer were both taken to Peoria County Jail.
An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
The incident remains under investigation by Peoria Police and the Coroner’s Office.
