The Illinois Department of Human Services is launching a new video campaign to promote its Drug Addiction Helpline.
The campaign includes five videos that tell the stories of addiction and recovery. Human Services Spokesperson Dani Kirby says they urge those suffering from opioid and other substance abuse to get help.
“The idea is to get the person connected to somebody who can help them. And, to have that initial conversation and find the treatment program or support service that’s right for them,” Kirby said.
The videos in the campaign feature people who are in recovery, and how substance abuse affects us all.
“In the videos, people share their stories of recovery and how substance abuse disorder can affect anybody. And, that people who are affected by substance abuse disorders in their family can reach out, and get help when they’re ready,” Kirby said.
