Heavy rainfall on Friday has lead to roads looking more like rivers in the Peoria area.
Sie Maroon with Peoria Public Works said that there is a lot of flash flooding going on from the intense rainfall, especially north of War Memorial Dr.
“We are starting to see a little break in the action here,” Maroon said just before 3:00 p.m. with some sun coming through the clouds.
Maroon said that if a road is flooded, do not attempt to drive through it.
“When you can’t see the pavement, you don’t know what you are driving into,” Maroon said.
According to Maroon, after the heavy downpour there is several inches of water flowing on different streets in Peoria.
There are reports of possible pavement buckling at N. University and Lake, all traffic is being blocked.
