PEORIA, Ill. — It’s last call at the Peoria Police Department.
The deadline to register for the PPD’s Citizens’ Police Academy was set for October 7th.
A few spots as of Thursday were still available.
Scheduled topics include an active shooter presentation, mock traffic stops, and a section on explosive ordinance disposal, better known as the bomb unit.
“Really exciting stuff will come from the detective bureau and special investigations division,” said PPD Public Information Officer Amy Dotson.
“[Students] will act as the police, and then the police officers will be roleplayers, so they’ll actually get to play out simulated, real-life scenarios we have dealt with.”
The 7-session class is set to run Oct. 9 through Nov. 20.
Applicants must be at least 18-years-old and pass a background check.
