PEORIA, Ill. — When the Peoria Park District Board of Trustees met Wednesday night a power purchase agreement for solar equipment was postponed to the next board meeting on October 23rd.
The power purchase agreement for the solar equipment at four park district locations was postponed due to ongoing negotiations.
Board President Robert Johnson wanted to make sure that the Peoria Park District Board of Trustees understands the benefits of solar energy.
“I just want to make sure we have a clear understanding of what the benefits will be for the park district,” he said.
President Johnson also said that the deal looks favorable to the Peoria Park District.
“We’ve been doing some research, and it looks very favorable. It looks like something that will save us money over the long run,” he said.
This comes after the September 18th board meeting when Hawk-Attollo presented to the board a slideshow of technical and financial facts and figures about the project.
Under current rates, Hawk-Attollo estimated over a 20-year span PPD would save, in electricity costs, $110,000 at the Lakeview Recreation Center, $190,000 at the Noble Center, and $300,000 at the RiverPlex Recreation Center and Owens Recreation Center, each, for a total of $900,000.
The Hawk-Attollo representative said in order for all four facilities to be eligible to use Solar Reusable Energy Credits, construction must be done by May 2020.
