PEORIA, Ill. – The National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Watch that covers counties in the western and central parts of Illinois. The Freeze Watch will be in effect Friday night through Saturday morning.
News partner 25-News Chief Meteorologist Chuck Collins said, “Expect temperatures at or below the freezing mark and it could mean an end to the growing season, unless you bring sensitive vegetation indoors.”
Collins added, “If you have outdoor plans Friday night, bundle up. High school football kick off temperatures will be around 40.”
Temperatures Saturday morning are expected to be at or below freezing.
“We’re not that far off the mark for the first freeze of the season, which on average occurs on October 19th,” Collins said.
The Freeze Watch includes the following counties; Peoria, Stark, Marshall, Fulton and Knox.
