PEORIA, Ill. -Peoria firefighter/paramedics were called to 700 W. Glen Avenue for an accident with possible entrapment around 1:45 Monday morning.
The two-vehicle crash happened near the intersection of Sheridan and Glen.
“Truck Three recognized immediately that the driver of the P.T. Cruiser, which was the female driver, was trapped and unconscious. And, that she had a weak pulse,” said Battalion Chief Shawn Sollberger.
“We felt like she had a possible fracture to the neck and possible fracture in the pelvis area.”
Crews used hydraulic tools to remove the woman from her vehicle within seven minutes.
The woman was transported to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center. The other driver fled the scene before crews arrived.
The crash remained under investigation.
