PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria Firefighter/Paramedics were called just before 6:40 a.m. Monday to Lynch Aluminum at 8810 N. University.
Fire Battalion Chief Clint Kuhlman said lightning struck the building, setting a skylight and the roof on fire.
Crews used an aerial ladder and an attack line to put out the flames.
Firefighters had to use a circular saw to cut open part of the roof to get to insulation that caught fire.
Crews worked in heavy rain, high winds and darkness while fighting the blaze.
No injuries were reported.
