PEORIA, Ill. — The Peoria Police Department has asked for the public’s help in a Sunday night hit-and-run case.
Investigators determined there was a witness to the incident that occurred around 9:43 near the intersection of S. Western and W. Millman, and killed 37-year-old Renee Nichols.
The PPD said the witness in a pickup truck drove southbound on Western before parking at Church’s Chicken.
“We’re trying to determine who the witness is and what information they have,” said PPD Public Information Officer Amy Dotson.
“Investigators did determine there was a witness, but this witness has not been spoken with by Peoria Police.
“We believe they have information vital to the investigation.”
Authorities said they were looking for a small, gray or silver SUV as the possible vehicle that struck Nichols.
That vehicle was last seen traveling northbound on Western from Millman.
Anyone in that vicinity, including business owners with exterior cameras, were being asked to contact the Peoria Police Department.
