PEORIA, Ill. — The Tireless Project returns for its final collection of 2019.
The monthly collection of unwanted tires takes place at JIMAX, located at 2000 W. Clark Street in Peoria.
Hours of collection are planned for 9-11 a.m., but once the trailer reaches capacity of 1,000 tires, they will shut down.
The collection is open Peoria residents only. Customers must have proof of residency in the form of a driver’s license, state ID, or property tax statement.
The Tireless Project takes up to 20 tires per person, with the first 10 being free, there is a $1.00 charge per tire after that, cash only.
Tires must be regular tires, not oversized. No tire rims are accepted.
If tires left after the designated hours, a $200 fine for littering is enforced.
The Tireless Project, initiated in 2015 by Peoria volunteers, successfully collected approximately 3,800 tires in their inaugural year.
In July 2017, JIMAX volunteered to take over the collection.
