PEORIA, Ill. — Firefighters were called around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday to a home in the 2300 block of N. Bigelow Street in Peoria.
The first companies on the scene found smoke coming from a window on the second floor. An attack line was advanced inside and upstairs to a bedroom and the fire was extinguished.
Battalion Chief Clinton Kuhlman said crews searched the home for residents and found three adults and two children had escaped before firefighters arrived.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
