SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Limestone Township will see a new ambulance in its emergency vehicle lineup.
The Pritzker Administration released $9.3 million to help communities across Illinois receive funds for new fire trucks and ambulances.
The loans are available through the Fire Truck Revolving Loan Program(FTRL) and the Ambulance Revolving Loan Program (ARLP) said Spokesperson for the Illinois State Fire Marshal, J.C. Fultz.
“It really is designed to assist districts or cities in purchasing emergency vehicles that they might not have been able to afford otherwise,” Fultz said.
Through the FTRL program fire departments, fire protection districts, and township fire departments can apply for up to a $350,000 low interest or no interest loan that must be repaid in 20 years.
The program is similar for the ARLP, where units of local government and non-for-profit ambulance service providers can apply for no interest or low interests loans of up to $200,000. Those loans have to be paid off in 10 years.
“Twenty three communities across Illinois are receiving funds to purchase new firetrucks and 11 communities are receiving funds for new ambulances,” Fultz said. “This is just helping to provide some of these districts, that may not have the financial means to purchase that new vehicle, the ability to do so and to provide great service and continue to make the community safer.”
Limestone is among one of the 11 communities that will receive funds for a new ambulance.
