PEORIA, Ill. — The Salvationa Army, along with OSF Children’s Hospital of Illinois and news partner 25 News, have begun collecting gently used or new coats to make sure every child in the Tri-County area has a winter coat.
The Corps’ Rich Draeger said there are over 50 drop off locations for coats. Coats will be accepted until the end of the month.
“They can drop them off at Northwoods Mall, at the offices, at many of the Jim Maloof Realty offices. OSF has them at many of the OSF doctors offices and at many of their clinics,” Draeger said.
Over the past 33 years, nearly 45,000 coats have been collected, cleaned and given out to area children in need.
Applications for coats will begin December 2 and coat distribution will be done at the Salvation Army’s Corps Community Center at 2903 W. Nebraska Avenue in Peoria.
Sign-ups will be conducted along with other Christmas sign-ups that week.
