TAZEWELL COUNTY, Ill. (25 News) – Peoria County Board member Matthew Windish faces a misdemeanor battery charge after an altercation outside Tremont on Tuesday.
The case was referred to the Tazewell County State’s Attorney’s Office, Lower confirmed.
Details surrounding what happened are not immediately known.
As of Wednesday night, Windish is out on bond pending formal charges.
Windish was elected to the Peoria County Board in 2018, representing District 16 as a Republican.
When called, Windish had no comment, only to say he has no intentions of stepping down.
