PEORIA, Ill. — Fire destroyed a Peoria home early Monday morning, leaving a man and his dog homeless.
The call came in around 4:00 a.m. from the 1500 block of W. Greenlawn Street.
Battalion Chief Nate Rice said the fire started between the first and second floors, making it difficult for firefighters to find it.
“They made an initial attack inside, but had to back out because the fire had progressed so much,” Rice said.
Firefighters remained on the scene several hours to put out hot spots.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
