MORTON, Ill. — A serious accident occurred just before noon on I-74 outside of Morton.
Illinois State Police spokesperson Haylie Polistina said that the eastbound lanes are shut down.
“We are re-routing traffic onto exit 102 into Morton,” Polistina said.
The accident is near milepost 104 on I-74, according to Polistina.
Tazewell County Coroner, Charles Hanley, confirmed there is one fatality as a result of the accident.
The scene is currently under investigation.
