PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria’s roads were a bit slick Tuesday morning after a record low temperature of 8 degrees was recorded overnight.
Peoria Public Works’ Sie Maroon said Snow Fighters continued to battle the cold Tuesday as they treated residential streets that intersect with the City’s main routes with a salt and liquid mix.
“We want to make sure that we get those (areas) treated so that there’s some stop and go power at those intersections,” Maroon said.
Maroon said sunshine and morning traffic Tuesday were expected to help break up some of the ice. He said crews would continue to treat the residential areas that needed it throughout the day.
“Turn lanes are also impacted with some of the ice and snow pack as well,” Maroon said.
Maroon urges drivers to travel with caution to stay safe.
