PEORIA, Ill. — The nation’s medical field desperately needs new nurses.
Dr. Jessica Clark, with Bradley University’s Department of Nursing, said Illinois in particular has seen an aging population of registered nurses.
“We know, statistically, that 89% of the current workforce are females, and we know that about 50% of them are 55 and older,” Clark said.
Clark told WMBD’s Greg and Dan, in response to the need for nurses, Bradley University will launch an Accelerated Nursing program in May, 2021, for people who already have a Bachelor’s Degree and are looking to get into nursing.
Bradley’s ABSN 2nd Degree program will prepare students for the nursing licensure exam and careers in any health care setting.
“They can now come back in an accelerated time, 15 months, and get a nursing degree,” Clark said.
Clark said there are some prerequisites for the program. For information on the program, click HERE.
The first nursing students enrolling in 2nd Degree program will begin studying in May 2020 and graduate in August 2021.
