PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria Made will open its doors at the beginning of December.
As a part of the new Innovation district, Peoria Made, 315 Main Street, will be a creative space for people to collaborate.
The location will house a space for local artists to have their work be shown, a work space for people to collaborate, a technical space for people to work on ideas such as podcasts.
Jake Hamann, Executive Director of the Peoria Innovation Alliance, said it is about driving density into the urban core.
“That’s what we are trying to do with this is by defining the Innovation District, now opening this space, having our event on the 29th, just this continued momentum,” Hamann said. “With really the goal to try and attract people down here.”
With a space that is open for many different creative outlets, Hamann said the goal is to create collisions.
“That’s kind of our hope with this space, that it becomes a place that all kinds of different groups of people can get together, strike up a conversation and maybe find an opportunity to work together, or even just become friends,” Hamann said.
Wells Fargo presented Hamann with a $12,500 donation that has helped clean up the space and transform it.
J.D. Dalfonso, President and CEO of Enjoy Peoria, said it is wonderful to see the space develop.
“It’s great to seem them bring this project to closure here, and we’re happy to showcase it,” Dalfonso said.
Peoria Made will host the Greater Peoria Homecoming on Friday, November 29th, starting at 4:30 p.m., just before the Yule Like Peoria event across the street at the County Courthouse Plaza.
Opening day will be Monday, December 2, according to Hamann.
