SPRINGFIELD, Ill, — The Illinois Department of Transportation said they are well prepared for winter and highway snow removal.
I-DOT crews are ready to plow the more than 45 thousand miles of Illinois roadways that will likely be hit with ice, sleet, and snow this winter.
I-DOT spokesperson Guy Tridgell said, “Last winter I-DOT used more than 600,000 tones of salt on Illinois roads.”
I-DOT has about 17,000 employees available for snow removal and estimate they will have about 1900 temporary workers to assist as well.
