PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria Police are searching for a suspect who stole a vehicle Sunday morning with an infant inside.
At about 9:45 a.m. Sunday, police responded to a report of a stolen vehicle with an infant inside in the 2400 block of North Dechman. Officers learned the vehicle had been left running outside with the 6-month-old infant inside, according to a release by the Peoria Police Department.
The vehicle was located at about 10:30 a.m. in an alley in the 300 block of East Gift, with the child still inside.
A Code Red alert was issued to alert residents of the incident, but it was cancelled when the child was found safe, according to the release.
A K-9 search of the area was completed, but no information was obtained.
Police have asked for the public’s assistance in locating the suspect, who was described as a black male wearing a gray hoodie.
