PEORIA, Ill. — The Peoria Park District Board of Trustees held a special meeting after the conclusion of the regularly scheduled board meeting Wednesday night.
The meeting was to discuss new ways to innovate and improve the Peoria Park District, which just celebrated its 125 year anniversary in 2019.
Executive director Emily Cahill explained the purpose and importance of the meeting.
“The wants and desires of the people who live here have changed over time and it’s our job to change with those. This was the starting point of that conversation,” said Cahill.
While many topics are on the mind of the PPD, three topics were discussed tonight. The topics were youth sports, aquatics, and the current state of Glen Oak Park.
Cahill said that starting with three topics allows them to approach things differently to better serve the Peoria community.
