GROVELAND, Ill. — A 20-year-old Pekin woman has been identified as the victim of a fatal crash in Tazewell County.
Just after 2:30 p.m., the Tazewell County Coroner’s Office was called to an accident in the 17000 block of Springfield road for a two vehicle accident.
Charles Hanley, the Tazewell County Coroner, said that Kaitlyn “Katie” Guard of Pekin was pronounced deceased at the scene.
“She was the sole occupant and operator of her vehicle,” Hanley said.
Hanley said her death was caused by multiple blunt force injuries.
The occupants of the other vehicle were a 45-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman.
The Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office said the man was driving in the south in the southbound lane and entered into the northbound lane driving south, while Guard was traveling north in the northbound lane.
Pending the outcome of the investigation, the TCSO said, multiple charges would be filed.
The man was LifeFlighted and, as of Wednesday afternoon, was in critical condition. His female passenger was transported to a hospital by ambulance and was in stable but critical condition.
