PEORIA, Ill. — Kids staying at OSF HealthCare Children’s Hospital of Illinois for the holiday season got a visit from Ol’ Saint Nick.
For 23 years, Bill Turney has put on the red suit and delivered toys to kids who will not be home for Christmas.
To get the toys, Turney work all year collecting them to hand out to the kids.
“It’s an amazing thing we do for these children,” Turney said.
He said the children are the reason he does this every year.
“I’m sure the children are wondering if Santa is going to find them. Santa finds them,” Turney said. “Santa loves every single one of them.”
Instead of a sleigh full of goodies, Turney and his helpers brought a U-Haul stuffed to the max with toys for the kids.
“We have enough toys to make them smile all year long. That’s why I work so hard. They’re here every day, why can’t they have a little Christmas every day?”
Turney, or Santa, walked from room to room greeting kids with presents, and gave them all a hug to say he loves them, and that Santa will see them soon.
