TAZEWELL COUNTY, Ill. — The new year fast approaching and so is the legalization of adult use cannabis.
While it may be legal for someone 21 or older to purchase, use, possess, and transport cannabis, there are still some restrictions.
The Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office is reminding residents the only place to consume cannabis products is in your private residence or property.
Cannabis products can not be used in public places or in motor vehicles.
It will also be illegal to transport cannabis within a motor vehicle unless the product is in a sealed, odor-proof, child resistant container.
The Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office would also like to urge individuals wishing to consume cannabis to be smart and not get behind the wheel high and be respectful to neighbors while using cannabis.
